Vendor

The entity who maintains, collects, stores and/or processes data that they do NOT own or license. A vendor (and their third-party vendors) perform services as initially directed/requested by the Data Controller or Data Owner. Vendors are also known as third-parties, processors, consultants, contractors, etc.

(New York, Legal) Vendors are generally nonlawyers, such as a computer consultants, experts, other nonlegal service providers used to assist with the client representation or employee administrative functions; however, vendors can also be other legal counsel hired as a consultant, etc.
