Consent is to give permission, in whole or in
part, for something to happen, as part of an agreement to do something, or to
receive a provided offer or service. It
can be the answer to a request for permission and a confirmation of
acceptance. For example, individuals may
grant consent to allow their personal data or PII to be collected and used by a
business.
(EU) Any freely given, specific,
informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's wishes by which he or
she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to
the processing of personal data relating to him or her
Implied consent – consent presented via action or
absence of action which indicates for an organization to collect, use, or
disclose for purposes that would be considered obvious at the time. (see

Affirmative consent - consent clearly presented with an
option to agree or disagree with the collection, use, or disclosure of personal
information. (see Opt-In Consent)
Explicit consent – consent clearly presented with an
option to agree or disagree with the collection, use, or disclosure of personal
information and confirm consent with an authorization mechanism, such as
signature.
